COCOA BEACH, Fla. – A 44-year-old cleaning woman who authorities said kicked a Cocoa Beach police officer in the jaw and bit another on the arm before being subdued was detained Saturday night. The officers were not seriously injured, reports Florida Today.
The woman also later admitted to police to taking an unidentified drug before showing up to the beachside condominium to clean up for a couple.
Colleen Nguyen, of Rockledge, was charged with battery on a law enforcement after Cocoa Beach officers were called about 4 p.m Saturday to conduct a well-being check at Sandcastles Condominiums, 1000 N. Atlantic Ave. Residents call 9-1-1 to report hearing a woman screaming repeatedly from one of the condominiums on an upper floor.
Officers arrived at the complex, went to the sixth floor and heard screams for help from a woman.
The officers went into the condo and found Nguyen inside.
Police said Nguyen tried to close the door on them and then when they attempted to escort her outside, she became combative.
Police said Nguyen bit one officer on the arm and kicked the other officer in the jaw. Officers managed to take her into custody and then had her go to a nearby hospital for a checkup. Nguyen later admitted taking drugs before showing up to clean a condo.
She was booked into the Brevard County Jail Complex in Sharpes.
