OVIEDO, Fla. - Three people were hospitalized -- one with critical injuries -- after a Monday morning crash in Oviedo.

The two-vehicle crash, which involved a pool company truck and an alarm company van, occurred around 8 a.m. on County Road 419 near Lake Mills Road.

The truck was carrying chemicals, and C.R. 419 was closed in the area for hours.  A hazmat team was called to clean the roadway and it has since been cleared.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the driver of the truck, James Johnstone, 23, of Orlando, suffered critical injuries and was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center.

The FHP said Johnstone's truck struck a sign before he over-corrected, crossed the center line and struck the van, driven by 63-year-old Aurelio Cruz, of Merritt Island.

Cruz was taken to ORMC with serious injuries, said the FHP, who added that his passenger, 53-year-old Belinda Paris, of Merritt Island, was taken to ORMC as a precaution.

Video from the crash scene showed debris strewn across the street.

An investigation is ongoing, and charges are pending against Johnstone.
