3 rescued sea turtles returned to the sea

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Three loggerhead turtles are back in the Atlantic Ocean after recuperating from illness at a central Florida marine center.

The Daytona Beach News-Journal reported that the turtles were released Tuesday after being treated at the Marine Science Center.

All three of the turtles were found on beaches near Daytona and were dehydrated and anemic. One nicknamed "Zee" had been found by a Dutch family at Ponce de Leon Inlet on May 1. Another named Seymour had been snagged by a fisherman at about that same time. The third is nicknamed Parker and had been found with a hook in its mouth.

The Marine Science Center has treated more than 900 juvenile and adult sea turtles and more than 15,000 hatchlings since it opened 11 years ago.
