DeLAND, Fla. - Police responded to a call about a fight over the weekend and just happened to stumble upon a group of underage drinkers.

DeLand police said it happened Saturday morning at the Blind Pig Pub. Officers finished their initial call and made a routine check at the bar. That's when officers said they found five people ranging from 17 to 20 years old drinking beer and other alcoholic beverages.

Police said at least four of the customers are students at Stetson University including the 17-year-old who told police someone else bout the alcohol. The group later admitted to police they were all underage.

The Blind Pig Pub told Local 6 that they routinely check IDs and said it's rare that underage drinking happens at their establishment.

Officers issued the group a citation for possession of alcohol under the age of 21, which is a misdemeanor. Police said the bar will not get in trouble because officers did not witness the incident and in this case, it wasn't a minor who purchased the alcohol.
