Are you prepared for a hurricane?

The National Hurricane Center wants everyone to be able to answer three specific questions before hurricane season starts on June 1:

  • What are the hurricane hazards?
  • What does it mean to you?
  • What actions should you take to be prepared?

The NHC Web site says hurricane hazards come in many forms, including storm surge, high winds, tornadoes and flooding. It's important for people to have a plan that includes all of these hazards, the center said. The most important thing anyone should do when facing a hurricane threat is to use common sense, according to the hurricane center.
