Deputies: 49-year-old man faces murder charge

SUMMERFIELD, Fla. – An arrest was made Friday in the July shooting death of a 29-year-old man, the Marion County Sheriff's Office said.

Deputies said Jeffery Jack Rewis, 49, of Summerfield, was arrested and is facing charges in the July 31 slaying of William Lolley II.

Lolley was shot at Rewis' home in the 13600 block of SE 80th Avenue after an argument that broke out between the men escalated, witnessed told authorities.

Lolley was taken to a nearby hospital, where he underwent surgery, but later died, deputies said.

Witnesses told investigators that Lolley tried to leave the home in a van with other people after the argument, but Rewis pulled out an assault rifle and began shooting at him from the back patio on the second floor of his home, deputies said.

Investigators said Rewis was arrested the day after the shooting on suspicion of having drugs and ammunition in his home, which he is not allowed to have because he is a felon, authorities said.

Deputies said bullet trajectory evidence was taken from the van and a modified assault rifle was found on Rewis' property.

Further analysis later revealed that the weapon was the one used to kill Lolley, deputies said.

Rewis was charged with second-degree murder, possession of a machine gun and possession of a firearm with an altered serial number, authorities said. He is being held in the Marion County Jail without bail.
