ORLANDO, Fla. - At least one person was killed in an Orange County crash Saturday afternoon, Florida Highway Patrol officials said.

The crash happened around 1:25 p.m. at the intersection of Apopka-Vineland Road and Balboa Drive.

Troopers said a car was heading south on Apopka-Vineland Road when for an unknown reason, the driver lost control of the vehicle.

The car left the roadway, and the right front of the vehicle struck a power pole, splitting the car in half, troopers said.

The front right passenger was ejected from the car and died at the scene. Troopers identified the passenger as Ronald Sankar, 28.

The driver suffered minor injuries, and another passenger suffered critical injuries, according to the FHP's report.

Troopers said the crash remains under investigation and charges are pending.
