ORLANDO, Fla. - A backpack found on a bench at a SunRail station in Orlando was not a threat, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Office.

SunRail called the Sheriff's Office after 7:40 p.m. Thursday, saying a conductor found the backpack on a bench in the SunRail Station at 8030 S. Orange Ave. near Sand Lake Road.

Authorities arrived at the station and found the backpack. Deputies said the SunRail station was then evacuated of a passenger.

The Sheriff's Office worked with SunRail and the Lynx Bus Service to have the Sand Lake station passengers ride a Lynx bus to the station. Deputies said Lynx agreed to provide a bus for 15 passengers to await the clearing of the backpack.

The Hazardous Device Team arrived at the station to inspect the backpack. After 10 p.m. Thursday, the team determined the backpack posed no threat, deputies said.

Railroad operations were said to resume Thursday night.
