Boil water alert issued in Orange County

Reverse 911 calls used to alert residents

Authorities in Orange County on Monday were alerting residents in seven neighborhoods to boil their water after a water main burst overnight.

Officials were using reverse 911 calls to inform residents in the following neighborhoods: Emerald Forest, Waters Edge, Boca Pointe, Diamond Cove, Sand Lake Cove, Avalon at Turkey Creek & Venezia.

According to Orange County officials, a 16-inch water main on Apopka-Vinveland Road near Jureane Drive broke.  The cause of the break is not known.

Sand Lake Elementary School is located in the area, but it's not if the school is affected by the boil water alert.

Crews are working to repair the water main.
