Case regarding alleged rape at football camp closed, DeLand police say

DeLAND, Fla. – A case has been closed regarding a Lake Howell High School student who said he was held against his will and sexually battered while at a football camp being hosted at Stetson University, DeLand police said.

The 14-year-old boy had told his mother about the allegation involving upperclassmen. His mother then told another person, who called an abuse hotline to report it.

Police said they became aware of the allegation July 27, but it's unclear when the incident occurred.

News 6 learned Friday that the case has been closed and no one is facing charges, according to DeLand police. No other details were given.

News 6 previously reported that DeLand police said no arrests had been made in the case, but that they were investigating multiple people in connection with the allegation.
