Celebration High student brought assault rifle to school, deputies say

Deputies say Gustavo Fernando Lozano-Silva brought and AR-15 to Celebration High School.

KISSIMMEE, Fla. – A Celebration High School student is accused of bringing an AR-15 assault rifle to campus, the Osceola County Sheriff's Office said.

Deputies received a tip Thursday that Gustavo Fernando Lozano-Silva, 18, had posted a video to social media in which he revealed that he had a gun hidden in his trunk in the area where the spare tire is usually stored.

He was in the school's parking lot while he was filming the video, according to a news release.

Deputies said they found an unloaded AR-15 when they searched Lozano-Silva's vehicle. No ammunition was found. Lozano-Silva told deputies he was planning to take the firearm to a local gun shop after school so he could get it cleaned, officials said.

Lozano-Silva is charged with possession of a firearm on school property, a third-degree felony.
