Child, adult suffer burn injuries in Cocoa mobile home fire, officials say

COCOA, Fla. – A children and an adult suffered burns when a mobile home caught fire Wednesday afternoon in Cocoa, according to officials from Brevard County Fire Rescue.

The fire was reported at 4:20 p.m. on Gatewood Street, which is in west Cocoa.

Officials said one adult and two children were already outside the home when fire rescue arrived. The adult burn victim was taken to an Orlando hospital as a trauma alert while one child suffered minor burns.

Neighbors saw the blaze and came over to help get the people out of home, Brevard County Fire officials said.

The fire happened just a few miles away from where three mobile homes caught fire around 1 p.m. Wednesday. Brevard County Fire Rescue and Cocoa fire were able to respond so quickly to the fire, because of the close proximity to the other mobile home fire.
