Clermont elementary school teacher arrested after teen girl found passed out at house party

Pine Ridge Elementary School teacher Antonia Marino arrested on several charges

MINNEOLA, Fla. - A second-grade Clermont school teacher was arrested on suspicion of hosting a house party involving up to 50 juveniles, including a teen girl found passed out in an upstairs closet.

Antonia Marino, a 43-year-old teacher at Pine Ridge Elementary School, was arrested Sunday on charges of hosting an open house party, contributing to the delinquency of a child and resisting arrest without violence.

According to the Lake County Sheriff's Office, deputies received a complaint about noise coming from a large party at a Minneola home and juveniles throwing beer bottles in yards and driveways along the street.

A deputy spotted Marino inside the home, but she would not open the door for about an hour, the Sheriff's Office said.

Marino, her husband and several children then exited the home, and Marino told deputies that there was a party for her daughter at the home and up to 10 others were supposed to be there, according to the Sheriff's Office.  She then said up to 50 kids showed up at her home and refused to leave, according to deputies.

Numerous witnesses, however, said Marino was at the party the entire time and saw alcohol being served to minors and did not try to stop it, deputies said.

After initially refusing, the Marinos allowed deputies in the home and they found a 15-year-old girl passed covered in vomit passed out in the closet, the Sheriff's Office said.  The girl was taken to a hospital, but her condition was not released.

The parents of all the juveniles were contacted, and they later picked up their children, deputies said.

"That's terrible, for her to be doing that, serving alcohol to minors, it's ridiculous," said neighbor Richard Hendricks.

Marino was arrested and taken to the Lake County Jail.
