Police officer grabs baby gator from floodwaters at Cocoa High

Department warns against trapping gators yourself

COCOA, Fla. – Don't try this at home, kids.

Cocoa police Officer Xavier Baez responded to a call that there was a baby alligator in the parking lot of Cocoa High School.

Rather than calling a gator trapper, Baez decided to literally take matters into his own hands.

The capture of the gator was caught on video. With a fellow officer narrating in the background, Baez becomes a temporary gator trapper and enters the ankle-deep water looking for the gator.

Baez then spots the gator and snatches it out of the water, then walks into the parking lot to the take the animal to safety.

The department posted the video to Facebook, adding dramatic music to make it a true "Crocodile Hunter" experience.
