Cocoa police officers surprise brothers with Orlando Magic game

3 brothers had played three-on-three with officers

COCOA, Fla. – It was a rush of excitement when the Green brothers saw the court.

"Never saw an NBA team play," said the youngest brother, Cortez Green.

It all started with Cocoa police bodycam video and the three brothers -- 12, 13 and 14 years old -- playing three-on-three with the officers.

"We were in the middle of some specialized enforcement that evening and we were going pretty hard for a while and I pulled up," Officer George Menendez said.

"I thought we were going to be in trouble for something. They actually came and played with us, and we had fun," said older brother Lawrence Green.

"We started talking to them on the PA and we asked who the best was, and they all raised their hands and we had to get out and figure it out," Officer Ben Erskin said.

"At first, they were beating us and I told my brothers to tighten up, and then we started coming back," said middle brother Jaquaze Green.

The boys beat the officers 7-3. So impressed with the kids' moves on the court, they posted the video to their Facebook page. The video got more than 12,000 views.

Knowing playing basketball is their dream, the officers decided to surprise them, taking them to meet the Orlando Magic and watch them play.

"It's like a dream come true. It was a dream come true," said mother Conchita Jones.

Their mother told News 6 that she teared up when she saw how nice the cops were to her children.

"They're very talented and I thank God because growing up without a father, and not having no father figure, just mom, I thank God, they're doing pretty good," she said.

The officers just hope the boys take home one thing.

"Positive experience with law enforcement in the community, we're just out there to help," Erskin said.

"They said bad guys vs. the good guys. We're, like, there's no bad guys here, just as long as they understand we're not bad guys," Menendez said.
