Jill Kruse spends night at her Disney resort for first time

ORLANDO, Fla. – A Colorado woman bitten by a shark while on Cocoa Beach is out of the hospital.

The shark bit down on 28-year-old Jill Kruse's calf Sunday. The woman had just arrived in Florida with her family hours before the incident.

The attack derailed the family's vacation while she spent every day in the hospital, having surgeries and recovering.

Thursday evening, she was released from Holmes Medical Center. She spent the night at her Disney resort for the first time.

"In less than an hour, our life changed," said Wanda Kruse, the victim's mother. "She's good, she's in a lot of pain, she's going to be in a lot of pain."

Doctors released her with orders to stay off her feet, but the family said the next hurdle became getting home.

Jill missed her return flight Wednesday because she was in the hospital. When the family called Frontier Airlines, they said they got no answers.

"Well, it doesn't matter if they miss a flight, they miss a flight, it's done. So, that's when we contacted CBS and you and asked for your help," said Kruse.

After News 6 spoke to a media representative with Frontier, the airline put Jill and her boyfriend on a flight Friday and waived all fees, with first-class seating.

"Thank you. You were very successful. Thank you so much, the flight's going to be hard enough on her anyways," Kruse told News 6. "So, she is basically going from the hospital to the hotel room, and then we'll get her on the plane, get her home so she can heal."
