Construction worker's head pinned at Daytona International Speedway, cops say

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - A construction worker's head was pinned between a steel beam and a scissor lift at Daytona International Speedway Saturday morning.

The Daytona Beach Fire Department said they responded to the call just before 8 am. while the worker was working on the new grand stand construction, which stands 94 feet above the ground on the third floor level.

According to the report, he was controlling and ascending the lift when the incident occurred.

When the fire department arrived on scene the construction worker's head had been freed by fellow workers, according to the report.

The worker was in serious but stable condition when he was transferred to Halifax Medical Center. His condition is currently unknown.
