OCALA, Fla. - A gunman wearing a Cookie Monster hat robbed an Ocala store and threatened the clerk, saying if police were contacted, "people outside will shoot you."

The robbery occurred around 9:20 p.m. Wednesday at the Gator's Chevron at 4410 W. Highway 326.

According to the Marion County Sheriff's Office, a man entered the store, pointed a small silver handgun at the clerk and demanded money.

Deputies said the armed robbery told the clerk, "If you call the cops, there are people outside that will shoot you."

The clerk gave the robber money from the cash register and the man then left the store in a silver or white four-door vehicle, possibly a Ford or Dodge.

Detectives released surveillance video and photos of the culprit, who was described as a white man in his late teens or early 20s with brown hair. He is about 6 feet tall and 170 pounds.
