Cops: Woman Set Man's Genitals On Fire

29-Year-Old Citra Woman Arrested On Aggravated Battery Charge

CITRA, Fla. - A 29-year-old Marion County woman was arrested Saturday on suspicion of dousing her boyfriend?s genital area with gasoline and setting him ablaze.

Victoria Eltonya Bynes, of Citra, was charged with aggravated battery and was taken to the Marion County Jail.

According to the Marion County Sheriff's Office, Bynes splashed a bottle of gasoline on her boyfriend's torso and genital area and lit him on fire during an argument.

Bynes told Marion County sheriff's deputies that she was shaking a bottle of gasoline and flicking a lighter during an argument but didn't mean to set her boyfriend on fire. Deputies said Bynes took a water bottle full of gasoline and a lighter with her when she went looking for her boyfriend, Andrew Williams.

Williams was taken to Shands at the University of Florida in Gainesville with second- and third-degree burns.

Williams' mother, Helen Hector Colding, said she still does not understand why her son's girlfriend of nine years would harm him.

"She said that he had some explaining to do," Colding said. "He said his girlfriend burned him. Threw gas on him, set him on fire. She's just jealous of him. She hadn't seen him in a week.

Colding said Bynes went to the hospital to visit her son.

Bynes bonded out on $10,000 bond early Sunday morning.

Colding said her son had surgery on Monday and is expected to recover.
