ORMOND BEACH, Fla. - A crash caused backups on Interstate 95 southbound in Volusia County Wednesday afternoon, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

The accident occurred on I-95 at exit 273, with traffic backed up for at least a mile. Northbound lanes remained open and southbound lanes were reopened just before 6 p.m.

Troopers said two cars traveling southbound were involved in crash, with one overturned.

According to FHP, Charles Hroch, 48, of New Jersey was the driver of the first vehicle. Hroch was taken to Halifax Regional hospital with serious injuries, FHP said.

Authorities said Hroch lost control and drove outside of his lane, colliding with the guardrail on the west side of 95. According to FHP, as the vehicle re-entered traffic, it collided with the second vehicle. Next, the Hroch's vehicle traveled in an easterly direction before colliding with the concrete barrier wall, troopers said.

The driver of the second vehicle wasn't injured.

Hroch was ticketed for failure to maintain a single lane.
