Crash Shuts Down Part Of I-4 In Polk Co.

Deputies Shut Down East ound Lanes I-4

POLK COUNTY, Fla. - Polk County sheriff's deputies shut down Interstate 4, eastbound, around Highway 27 after a serious crash involving two cars.

Deputies said the wreck occured before 10 a.m. Saturday.

Drivers should note that the area between County Road 557 and Highway 27 will be closed while the crash investigation is conducted.

Alternative routes recommended are Lake Alfred Road or Deen Still Road. Only the easbound lanes are affected. Westbound lanes are open.

Traffic on the interstate was backed up past the theme parks to Highway 192 in Orlando.

Deputies opened the highway just before 1 p.m. and traffic was moving again.
