A cruise ship rescues two Bahamian men stranded in the waters off Florida.

MIAMI - A cruise ship came to the rescue of two Bahamian men stranded in the waters off Florida, officials said.

The Coast Guard says authorities were alerted after Deon Lathen and Ted Lainge failed to reach their destination in West End, the Bahamas, on Saturday morning.

A Coast Guard air crew spotted their disabled vessel, Tera Bite, on Sunday about 30 miles east of Sebastian Inlet. When the crew failed to establish communications with the vessel, they called on the Carnival cruise ship Dream to help with the rescue.

The cruise ship picked up the stranded men and transferred them to a Coast Guard cutter. The men have been taken to Fort Pierce.
