Remains found in Dunnellon belong to missing man, deputies say

DUNNELLON, Fla. – Deputies announced Monday that a body found in Dunnellon in August was that of a man who had gone missing less than a week prior, the Marion County Sheriff's Office said.

The family of Eric Danzell Humbert Jr., 25, reported him missing on Aug. 14. His remains were found around 11 a.m. Aug. 20 as authorities were searching a wooded area north of the intersection of SW 162nd Terrace and SW 36th Street for evidence related to Humbert's disappearance.

The remains were sent to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement DNA section for forensic analysis. The cause and manner of Humbert's death is still under investigation.
