Deputy, woman injured in Brevard fire

State fire marshal to investigate cause of Indialantic blaze

INDIALANTIC, Fla. - A Brevard County sheriff's deputy and a woman were injured Thursday night in an Indialantic house fire.

Investigators are still trying to determine what caused the fire at 2015 Plumosa Way in Indialantic off State Road A1A and north of U.S. Highway 192.

Flames started shooting through the roof just before 8:30 p.m., and Brevard County firefighters had to use two ladder trucks to get enough water on the home.

A deputy was injured while making entry into the home, suffering a cut to his arm from broken glass, officials said.  A woman inside the home was taken to Holmes Regional Medical Center.  Her condition was not known.

Firefighters were on scene well past 11:30 p.m Thursday looking for any hot spots or flare-ups.

Smoke filled the neighborhood and lingered into Friday morning.

A state fire marshal will investigate to determine the cause of the blaze.
