WASHINGTON - Health professionals are assessing next week's presidential inauguration for the potential of a flu outbreak.

D.C. health officials said the flu problem in the region has not reached epidemic levels yet, but they worry that it could soon change, WAMU-FM reports.

Doctors with George Washington University Medical Hospital said that they expect the number of people infected by the flu to increase.

It's estimated that 600,000 to 800,000 people are expected to attend the 57th Presidential Inauguration at the U.S. Capital.

Health officials are urging anyone with flu symptoms to stay home.

President Barack Obama will formally be sworn into his second term on Sunday, but the inaugural celebration will be held the following Monday.
