ORLANDO, Fla - Downtown Orlando was home to an industry summit on the state of sports in the world this week.
The Worth Group and Worth Magazine held their "It's More Than a Game" Worth Sports Summit on Thursday morning at the Dr. Philips Center for the Performing Arts.
The companies press release on the event described the meeting as an invitation-only, "interactive day to share ideas on sports innovation, build relationships and engage in discussions on how sports can foster economic growth and contribute to meaningful social impact."
This iteration of the annual affair featured speakers and panels on all manners of things related to sports and the sports industry, including "economic and cultural impact, the evolution of sports consumption and the technology that will transform how we play, watch and engage with sports in the future."
The keynote speakers for the summit were WNBA President Lisa Borders and Dennis Crowley, co-founder of Foursquare.
Other prominent individuals set to speak were CEO of the Orlando Magic, Alex Martins, former captain of the New Zealand All Blacks, Sean Fitzpatrick and NHL Chief Brand Officer Brian Jennings amongst others.
City of Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer. a panelist at the event, tweeted after he spoke how much he enjoyed speaking about "how Orlando is becoming a premier sports event destination.
Also cited in the press release was Orlando's Bonafide for being chosen as a host for the event, specifically their being " home to several professional sports teams and numerous organizations, academic institutions and sports industry businesses including: Orlando Magic, Orlando City SC, Orlando Pride, University of Central Florida, EA Sports, ESPN Wide World of Sports, the USTA, and the Florida Citrus Bowl among others."
The Worth Group is a media company that produces award-winning Worth Magazine, and also works in digital, broadcast and radio content.
