ORLANDO, Fla. - A dump truck overturned Monday morning in Orlando in a crash with a pickup truck, officials said.

The crash happened around 8:20 a.m. on Boggy Creek Road near Wetherbee Road.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, David Maatman, 56, of Orlando, was driving a 2006 Dodge pickup northbound on Boggy Creek when his vehicle traveled into the southbound lane.

The dump truck, driven by 51-year-old Leslie Edwards, of Orlando, was headed south, and Edwards tried to avoid the pickup, but struck it, troopers said.

The dump truck overturned, rupturing the vehicle's gas tank.

Maatman was seriously injured and taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center, the FHP said.

Edwards suffered minor injuries and was taken to Florida Hospital Kissimmee.

Troopers said charges are pending against Maatman.

Boggy Creek Road was blocked in the area.
