Eclipse cities 'totality' pumped for the big event

The eclipse hype is real

LUSK, Wy. – Signs, T-shirts and glasses-oh my! When it comes to cities across the path of totality for the Great American Eclipse, there is no hiding the hype.

While Nashville, Tennessee; Hopkinsville, Kentucky; Columbia, Missouri and Beatrice, Nebraska are all very different cities, they all have one thing in common: They are completely pumped for this eclipse.

You can't drive around any of these eclipse cities without seeing reminders of the solar eclipse everywhere. For most Americans, the eclipse is a cool thing they've recently heard about on the news. For these cities, these eclipse events have been years in the making.

The Nashville Adventure Science Center told us that they've been planning for the viewing of this eclipse since 2012. Mayor Carter Hendricks of Hopkinsville said the city has been preparing for 3 years. Professor Angela Speck told us she's been prepping for this eclipse since she became a professor at the University of Missouri 15 years ago. 

The months of preparation show, not just in the elaborate festivals and viewing events, but by how excited the residents in the cities of totality are for the big event.
