Economists predict employment boom for Florida by 2018

Estimating conference projects 900,000 new jobs

Six years from now Florida's employment landscape will see the creation of 905,000 new jobs according to experts attending the recent Florida Economic Estimating Conference.

The conference is a "collaborative event featuring the state's top public sector economists."

The estimates, released Monday afternoon, come in the wake of steady economic trends in the state.

According to the Department of Economic Development, Florida is "currently experiencing increases in job growth, housing starts, median home prices, tax revenues, and consumer confidence."

As Local 6 first reported last week, Florida was recognized for the second highest job creation total in the nation for the month of August.
