DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Daytona Beach Fire Department responded to the 400 block of North Ridgewood Avenue, the Casa San Pablo Apartments, for a reported high-rise commercial structure fire just after 6:00pm on Thursday.

When fire crews initially arrived on scene they did not find any signs of a structure fire. However, during the search for the fire, crews found heavy flame and smoke coming from an apartment located on the first floor of the structure.

Residents were evacuated from the building, and crews were able to confine the fire to the room of origin.

One man was treated for smoke inhalation and a cat, rescued by firefighters, was also treated for smoke inhalation.

About 50 residents were evacuated from the building, but have since been allowed to return.

No other injuries had been reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the State Fire Marshal's Office.
