ORLANDO, Fla. - Orange County deputies are urging residents to shop smart after three gunmen broke into a a home and stole the family's recently purchased Christmas gifts--all because of an empty TV box left outside of the home.

Orange County Sheriff deputies say three armed men burst into a home on Balboa Drive in Pine Hills after spotting an empty TV box out on the curb. The family had just gotten home from a day of shopping.

"After they had gotten home (from) Christmas shopping and brought in their gifts, people burst in," said Orange County Sheriff spokeswoman Jane Watrel. "We have three suspects that burst in, robbed them and took off with their Christmas gifts. Very scary."

Watrel said the family was not hurt.

A man who answered the door at the home declined to comment to Local 6.

Neighbors tell us they're now worried about their homes.

"We've been Christmas shopping and now I'm scared we might need to take the stuff from up under the tree," said Kotero Myers, who lives a few blocks away.

"It's crazy," said Lori Williams, who lives down the street. "I mean it's really sad you can't go shopping and put anything in your home."

At this time, deputies are not releasing a description of the suspects and are also not saying what the men were armed with. Anyone with information should call Crimestoppers.
