Billboard: Who killed Rasheed Wiggins?

Family offers $10,000 reward for information leading to arrest

ORLANDO, Fla. – The family of hit-and-run victim Rasheed Wiggins made a plea to the public and offered $10,000 for information leading to the arrest of the drivers who fled the scene after striking the Orange County man last year.

Authorities are still looking for a 2011-2013 white Toyota Prius and another older model white car. Both hit Wiggins and left the scene, authorities said.

On April 16, 2015, Wiggins was hit as he stood in the grass median, waiting to cross Universal Blvd. at 11:35 p.m.

Kimberly Wiggins, Rasheed's wife, spoke Friday under one of two billboards in Orlando dedicated to the hit-and-run case. Chip Brown, senior vice president of marketing for Seasons 52 and Rasheed's supervisor, also addressed the media.

“I just want people to understand the life that was taken was an incredible one,” Kimberly Wiggins said.

The widow added she just wants someone to step up.

“Somebody knows what happen,” she said.

In April, authorities initially took a white Prius in to custody, but there was no DNA evidence to support it was involved.

“We weren’t able to put that car at the scene,” said Florida Highway Patrol Sgt. Kim Montes, during the presser.

“Right now we’re still looking for both white passengers vehicles that struck Rasheed on the night of the crash,” she said.

Montes stressed that someone knows something and they need to come forward. Tipsters can remain anonymous by calling Crimeline at 1-800-423-TIPS.

The Florida Highway Patrol has investigated 24 fatal hit-and-run crashes this year in Central Florida, including Rasheed's. Fifteen of the crashes were in Orange County, double the number from last year, according to FHP.

Since Wiggins' death, Kimberly received letters of support from President Obama and Florida Rep. Corrine Brown.

Duke University, where Wiggins received his Master's Degree, named an entrepreneurship award after him. The Duke Startup Challenge Rasheed A. Wiggins Prize recognizes emerging entrepreneurs who exemplify the ideals and spirit of Wiggins, according to the Duke University website.
