Westbound State Road 408 reopens after fatal crash

Expressway was closed between Crystal Lake, Bumby avenues

ORLANDO, Fla. – Westbound State Road 408 was shut down for about two hours Monday afternoon while authorities investigated a fatal crash, according to the Orlando Police Department.

The crash was reported at about 2 p.m. near mile marker 11.

Police said traffic was being diverted between Crystal Lake and Bumby avenues. 

Sky 6 video from the scene showed a silver SUV with substantial front-end damage and debris, including a car seat, scattered across the road.

Police said the driver of a silver Ford Escape lost control of the vehicle, causing it to swerve across two lanes and then roll. The driver was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene of the crash.

The road reopened at about 4:45 p.m.
