GRANT-VALKARIA, Fla. – A Brevard County home was destroyed by fire early Monday, officials said.
No one was injured in the fire, which was reported in the 5600 block of Loblolly Place in Grant-Valkaria.
Firefighters said a couple was sleeping inside the home when they noticed a burning smell coming from the garage.
The husband opened the garage door, and could only see black smoke, officials said.
The couple ran out of the home and called 911.
Brevard County District Chief Bob Furci said the fire spread within 10 minutes.
"Because of the modern construction of newer houses, we just don't have enough time anymore for initial attack," Furci said.
Firefighters tried to access the garage, but the roof was already collapsing, officials said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
No other details have been released.
