Daytona Beach fire officials said one of the adults heard a popping sound and found a second-floor bedroom ablaze. The residents safely left the home, fire officials said.
Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the home and prevent flames from spreading to surrounding houses, officials said.
Officials said Monday afternoon that one of the children who lives in the home had been styling her hair with a flat iron and accidentally left it on, which sparked the blaze.
"These styling tools emit very high heat and the Daytona Beach Fire Department urges anyone who uses these tools to ensure they are completely shut off after use and unplugged from a power source," officials said in a news release. "It is also recommended to place these tools on a non-flammable surface."
The house sustained extensive damage.
The Red Cross was called to assist the seven occupants of the house, three of whom were at school when the fire broke out.
