Fire sparks at Orange County apartment complex

16 units affected, according to officials

ORLANDO, Fla. - Orange County Fire Rescue is investigating what sparked a fire at an apartment complex in Orlando on Monday morning.

Fire Rescue officials said at 10:32 on Monday, a fire broke out in the attic of the Royal Palms Apartment Complex in Orlando. The fire was put out 30 minutes after firefighters arrived.

16 units were affected and are deemed unlivable.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown, according to Orange County Fire Department.

The complex is located at 2527 W Oak Ridge Road.

Because of the size of the building and the potential for injuries and loss of life, a second fire alarm went off which brought additional firefighters to the scene. Over 40 firefighters along with support teams responded.
