FORT LAUDERRDALE, Fla. - Three college friends from Georgia caught a 13-foot great white shark about two miles from Port Everglades Tuesday.

"They were ecstatic and exhausted," Paul Paolucci, captain of Hooked Up, a local fishing charter boat told WPLG-TV. "It was a lot of work. You had to pull really had to get the fish up."

Paolucci said it took about two hours to reel in the shark.

Logan Elliot tweeted the above photo, writing: "Just caught a 12 ft, 800lb Great white!!! After 2 hours, finally caught the beast. One of three people in Florida to ever catch a great white."

The group then released the shark.

Elliot and some teammates were reportedly in town for a baseball tournament.
