Flight leaving OIA has tire blowout on takeoff

American Airlines Flight 178 had 164 people on board

ORLANDO, Fla. – American Airlines Flight 178 to Los Angeles was attempting to take off from Orlando International Airport on Monday night when it had a tire blowout.

The Greater Orlando Aviation Authority said when the tire blew out, the flight, which had 164 people on board, including the crew, was aborted.

Officials said there was no impact on operations at the airport and three other runways were used as a workaround.

No injuries were reported.

All passengers and crew members deplaned and were returned to the terminal by bus.

Officials said the plane, a Boeing 737, was evaluated by maintenance crews.

American Airlines officials said another plane later took the passengers to L.A.
