LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. - Authorities say they're trying to find the owner of a dog spotted running through backyards in a Florida neighborhood with its mouth taped shut.

The Lee County Sheriff's Office posted on Facebook that the male Florida Cur was found Tuesday in Lehigh Acres.

Deputies say someone had wrapped red electrical tape around the dog's mouth. Officials say the dog was dehydrated, malnourished and bleeding from several wounds.

The dog has been treated by a veterinarian and taken to the county animal shelter.

Officials are asking for anyone with information about the dog or its owner to contact the sheriff's office or Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers.
