Jerry McCallam pleaded no contest Monday to felony animal cruelty and misdemeanor animal abandonment charges and admitted to violating his probation.

McCallam was then sentenced to prison.

McCallum's probation officer visited McCallum's Crestview home last December and found the animals.

Panhandle Animal Welfare Society officials said some of the cats were already dead and most of the others were so sick that they had to be euthanized.
