‘Top travel destination:’ Florida welcomes record visitors in 2025

Gov. Ron DeSantis announces highest-ever fourth-quarter tourism

ORLANDO, Fla. – Florida’s tourism scene is hot.

Gov. Ron DeSantis announced that the state welcomed a record-breaking 143.3 million visitors in 2025, according to preliminary data from Visit Florida, a slight increase from 2024.

According to a news release, the fourth quarter alone saw 33.5 million visitors, the highest ever for that period.

Domestic travelers made up the bulk, accounting for 91.5% of all visitors, with 131.1 million Americans heading to the Sunshine State. International visitors also grew, especially from Brazil, Argentina, and several European countries, with Brazil now the second-largest overseas market.

“Florida continues to set the standard as the top travel destination in the nation,” DeSantis said, highlighting investments in infrastructure, public safety, and environmental care that help families vacation with confidence.

Visit Florida CEO Bryan Griffin credited the state’s attractions, lodging, and dining for the success, while Commerce Secretary J. Alex Kelly pointed to strategic community investments fueling job growth and small businesses.

A major highlight was the opening of Universal Epic Universe in May 2025, a new theme park expected to bring $2 billion into Florida’s economy during its first year.

Final visitation figures will be confirmed this spring, but Florida’s tourism momentum shows no signs of slowing.
