3 taken to hospital after Fla. boat crash

Driver ticketed for not paying attention

CLEARWATER, Fla. - Three boaters have been taken to the hospital after their 21-foot boat crashed into a jetty in southwest Florida.

Florida Fish and Wildlife officials said nine people were aboard the vessel when it crashed around 3 a.m. Sunday morning in Clearwater.

Coast Guard and fire rescue officials assisted with the crash.

The three passengers taken to the hospital were not believed to have life threatening injuries.

Authorities gave the boat's driver a ticket for not maintaining a proper look out.
