Beaten woman found safe; Boyfriend sought

Brevard County deputies search for Deone Turpin

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. – The Brevard County Sheriff's Office is seeking assistance in finding a man they say was involved in a violent incident after a woman showed up at a gas station.

Deputies said at around 5 a.m. Sunday, 31-year-old Teresa Owens entered the Pilot convenience store at 4455 W. King St. in Cocoa with what appeared to be blood on her clothing and a swollen eye.

Deputies said Owens told the clerk she ran away from a man and needed to call her mother for help.

Brevard deputies said four minutes later, Deone Turpin, believed to be the woman's boyfriend, came into the store, went behind the register where Owens was hiding and took her out of the store.

Deputies said Turpin was seen forcing Owens into his car through the driver's side door before driving off.

The vehicle was found within two miles of the location, but Owens and Turpin were not found, deputies said.

Owens was found safe late Sunday at her mother's home, but deputies are still looking for Turpin.
