Child airlifted off of Carnival cruise ship, authorities say

12-year-old child taken to Arnold Palmer hospital as precaution

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. – A child has been airlifted after falling on board a cruise ship at Port Canaveral, according to authorities.

Port Canaveral authorities say a 12-year-old child tripped and fell on Wednesday while running aboard the Carnival Sensation and was taken to Arnold Palmer Hospital Thursday morning as a precaution.

Carnival officials said the child was evaluated and care for by the ship's medical team and remained under their care until the ship arrived in Port Canaveral Thursday morning.

The child is in stable condition and has been released from the hospital, officials said. Carnival is providing assistance and support to the child and his family.

No other information, including the child's injuries, has been released.

The Carnival Sensation arrived back at Port Canaveral just got back from a 4-day cruise in the Bahamas and is scheduled to leave on Thursday at 4 p.m. for another 4-day cruise to the Bahamas.
