Judge sentences Brandon Bradley to death in Brevard deputy slaying

Bradley convicted in death of Deputy Barbara Pill

VIERA, Fla. – A judge sentenced Brandon Bradley, the man convicted of killing Brevard County Deputy Barbara Pill, to death on Friday afternoon.

Bradley was sentenced to death at 1:30 p.m. in a hearing at the Moore Justice Center in Viera. The same jury that convicted Bradley in April recommended death by a 10-2 vote days later.

Before his sentencing, Bradley spoke to the court, saying "I want to say I'm sorry to the family and friends of Deputy Pill."

Sheriff Wayne Ivey released a statement following the sentencing, saying "We are pleased with today's sentence. Barbara was an incredible deputy, mother, wife and friend and we will never forget her. Justice was rendered today and we hope that it is carried out swiftly. We pray that today actions will finally bring peace and closure to Barbara's family."

Bradley and Andria Kerchner were arrested not long after Pill was shot in early 2012. Kerchner pleaded guilty to being an accessory after the fact to first-degree murder, grand theft and burglary.
