MERRITT ISLAND, Fla. – Parents in Brevard County are outraged after a man that coached their little-league kids was sentenced on cocaine charges.
According to the state attorney's office and court documents 38-year-old Bryan Bogle pled guilty to possession of cocaine and was sentenced to two years probation on March 28.
Merritt Island Little League president Bobby Pazos said he confronted Bogle about the charges, but was told they were dismissed.
It seems other parents and coaches were under the same impression but never checked into it themselves.
"My concern is the best interest of the children and when something like this happens, is this the kind of thing we want to have?" Frank Diana said Friday, whose 12-year-old daughter was coached by Bogle.
Court documents show Bogle was charged in August 2011 and on March 28th pled guilty to the drug charge. He was sentenced to two years probation.
Bogle took off from Friday's practice once Local 6 arrived, without answering any questions.
While Diana said he worries about Bogle's criminal history and lack of being a role model to his players, other parents came to his defense.
"I think people make mistakes. He's a great coach. He's a former pro baseball player and he would never hurt a child. I completely trust him with the kids," Michelle Emery said Friday.
Emery is also Bogle's ex-wife.
Others disagree with Emery and don't want a criminal leading their team.
"It's really an insult to the league," Diana said.
Pazos told Local 6 he immediately plans to recommend Bogle be removed from the team.
It will be up to the board to take immediate action or they can wait until their next meeting on April 26.
