Shark attacks kiteboarder off Brevard beach

19-year-old suffers lacerations to leg

TITUSVILLE, Fla. - A kiteboarder was attacked by a shark Sunday afternoon off a Brevard County beach.

The shark attack happened on Playalinda Beach on the Canaveral National Seashore.

Justin Worral, 19, suffered several lacerations on his leg from the bite.

"I felt something, like, scratch my leg and I thought I might have been pulled over my board or something and I looked back and I saw a fin," he said.

Worrall said he used his kiteboard to get away from the shark and swim back to shore.

"I'm thankful that it didn't bite my foot off or anything crazy, but it feels pretty cool, I guess, to be bitten by a shark," Worral said.

Wildlife officials said they're not sure what type of shark attacked Worral.
