Couple kicked out of Florida restaurant for having service dogs

Worker didn't think morkies were service dogs

CLEARWATER BEACH, Fla. – A Florida couple says they were the subject of discrimination after they were kicked out of a restaurant because of their service dogs.

However, the restaurant is saying it is not that simple.

The couple says their Saturday morning breakfast turned into a nightmare. They say they both have disabilities that require them to have their morkie service dogs.  A morkie is a Maltese-Yorkie mix.

Police kicked the couple and their dogs out after a worker called 911 and said he did not believe the dogs were service animals.

A manager at the restaurant said she is retraining staff about the Americans With Disabilities Act.

The couple plans to file a complaint with the Pinellas County Office of Human Rights and the U.S. Department of Justice.
