Labor Day weekend off to strong start

ORLANDO, Fla. – Travel is expected to be high in Central Florida during the Labor Day weekend and police are on alert for violators.

Central Florida beaches are expected to reach capacity crowds, and police told Local 6 they want people to be aware of conditions.

Rip currents are expected to be off the coast, but Beach Patrol officers want drivers to pay attention to the new laws in effect which include texting and driving, driving with headlights on and observing beach traffic flow.

Central Florida police agencies will also be out in full force looking for drunk and aggressive drivers during the holiday weekend.

Millions take to the roadways to celebrate the last official holiday of the summer.
