Sumter County teen says man sexually assaulted her

WILDWOOD, Fla. – Sumter County sheriff's deputies are investigating a possible sex assault after a teen was reported missing following an Amber Alert.

An Amber Alert was issued for a 14-year-old on Wednesday night after she was apparently abducted, according to deputies. She was found safe near  County Road 230 and County Road 205C in Wildwood, according to officials.

Deputies are searching the area on Friday to re-examine the crime scene and investigate further.

According to a deputy release, the teen was spotted getting off the school bus at 4:15 p.m. Thursday and her book bag was discovered on the road by her residence. She was found at 9:15 p.m. after dozens of officials searched for her.

She told deputies the man pulled up to her at the bus stop in an older model blue mini-van, then forced her into the van at knife point.

Deputies said the suspect is a white male, possibly in his 40s and possibly has a mustache. He also has a 2-inch scar across his chest, according to deputies.
